A copper walker strolls past a blooming tree that hides a badger watching from behind the tree trunk. A blackbird soars above the tree disturbed by the walker perhaps?
The whole piece is made in my signature patinated copper and sits on a base of paulownia wood.
Turn the handle to see the walker stroll.
What’s happening in the woods when we’re not there? Perhaps a fox silently watches while a barn owl is on the hunt. ‘Wildwoods’ reflects on the ongoing patterns of nature when no one is around to witness it. A bright copper fox sits below patinated copper trees in which an owl flitters when the handle is turned.

A beautiful little copper hare careering through enamel flowers. Did you know that ‘Dew Hopper’ is an old English name for hares? I think it sums up their early morning frolics in fields of marigolds just perfectly!

A patinated copper automata with enamel flower and recycled tin scarf. This piece depicts a rambler enjoying a stroll in the natural world. Looking on are a squirrel, a badger and a bird.
Inspiration for this piece comes from my habit of walking in nature. I’m never in a hurry and I don’t listen to podcasts or music as I love to hear the birds and listen out for the scurry of local creatures.
This is one of my earliest designs and has been made many times now. It captures the simple pleasure of walking a dog on a wintery night, a time of peace and quiet contemplation. When the handle is turned the figure and the dog trot along independently.

Patinated copper and brass on a reclaimed oak base. This automata sums up that disorientating feeling when you think you’ve found love but you’re not quite sure. Turn the handle and sea the sailor with their telescope as they search the sky for love!
In this automata a happy couple gaze into each others’ eyes as hearts and flowers tremble above them. Turn the handle so the hearts and flowers revolve in an endless circle of blessings. In this piece the flowers and the top heart are enamelled while the smaller hearts are burnt copper. The groom is patinated with copper nitrate to achieve that lovely turquoise colour and the bride is painted in lacquered acrylics. They hold a bouquet of lilac enamelled flowers.
Just to keep you on your toes I have added a brass plaque since these pictures were taken. It reads: The Big Day.
This piece is available to buy directly but I’m also happy to chat about bespoke wedding options. I’m always happy to incorporate motifs that are meaningful to a happy couple that you know. Let your imagination run wild!
A patinated copper woodland scene which features a copper deer and two silver badgers.
This all sits under the protection of a glass bell jar, keeping dust at bay and leaving these woodland creatures in peace.

Cat Woman is made of patinated copper with a brass box and reclaimed hardwood base. The bluebells are enamelled and Cat Woman has a hat with leaf metal. This piece came about as a play on the rather voluptuous Cat Woman of DC Comics fame, I think the reality is rather more humble. My Cat Woman is based on a very good pal whose spooky black cat follows her everywhere!

Patinated copper and brass with enamel flowers and leaf metal. Sitting on a reclaimed hardwood base. Little Red Riding Hood is a much loved tale, all the more pertinent to me since becoming the mum of 2 daughters. Advice like this is as old as the hills for a reason!

The distinctive markings of killer whales are crafted in patinated copper with silver metal leaf. These will turn heads whether they are moving or not as they are based on such eye catching creatures. Some lucky people in Cornwall recently spotted a pod of these stunning mammals who had swum down from their home in Scotland. A bit like me - maybe they’ll give me a ride back home so I don’t have to deal with the traffic!! Turn the handle and the pair appear to swim on their way.

An iron wire pear suspended with a tiny burnt red copper heart. This is all seated on a scorched oak base taken from a reclaimed whisky barrel stave. The open box that holds the mechanism is copper with golden leaf. Turn the handle to see the pear turn.
This is one of my more whimsical pieces with no obvious story. A delicate iron pear and a copper heart speaks of deep love to me…but for a person, a place, a moment - who knows?!
